Pigeon Parents Have Milk

Who would've thought that an animal can teach us a lot about parenting and gender roles?

Pigeon chicks actually feed on their parents’ milk for a few days after hatching. The chicks get the milk from a sac located near the throat of a parent pigeon. Both male and female parents have this sac. Pigeon parents share the responsibility of caring for their chicks equally. That’s fair and responsible parenting for you! Now if we can only get our husbands to produce breast milk... That would be an interesting study for a female geneticist.

Fact or Fiction?
Fact! (I mean the one about the pigeons!)

Wow, I had no idea. Very interesting for sure. I wonder if Pigeons are the only ones who have that milk sac?

I also thought only mammals produced milk. That is an amazing fact. The similarities between all animals is remarkable. Little facts like these are cool, you have a great blog.:)
